Thomas og hans bedste ven Percy er i gang med at slukke en brand på en gård, heldigvis ankommer Belle og hjælper dem. Da branden er slukket, er Belle løbet tør for vand, og Thomas og Percy hjælper hende tilbage til remisen. Kontrolchefen roser Belle for hendes modige indsats i forbindelse med branden. Der er brug for en ny brandbil på Sodor og Belle anbefaler Flynn, så det bliver arrangeret at han kommer til Sodor fra fastlandet. Følg med Thomas og hans nye veninde Belle, Percy og Dieselernes eventyr på Sodor.

Thomas og vennerne skal hjælpe med at bygge en lufthavn på øen Sodor, hvor de kører. Det kniber for damplokomotiverne og diesel togene at arbejde sammen, de kan ikke udstå hinanden. Thomas må finde på noget, da stormen ødelægger broen, lokomotivernes remise ikke kan blive repareret og lufthavnen ikke kan blive færdig, så sommergæsterne kan komme til øen.

Ikke med det formål at afpresse Roberto, men for at drive ham til vanvid. Roberto hyrer en privatdetektiv, men alle, der kommer tæt på gådens løsning, ender som det næste offer. Hiro er meget langt hjemmefra og ikke i særlig god stand, og han kommer i store problemer, da han blandt andet prøver på at følge med Spencer, som er det hurtigste lokomotiv på øen. Thomas bliver rigtig gode venner med Hiro og forsøger at hjælpe ham ud af kniben
