When 'Vogler's Magnetic Health Theater' comes to town, there's bound to be a spectacle. Reading reports of a variety of supernatural disturbances at Vogler's prior performances abroad, the leading townspeople (including the police chief and medical examiner) request that their troupe provide them a sample of their act, before allowing them public audiences. The scientific-minded disbelievers try to expose them as charlatans, but Vogler and his crew prove too clever for them.

This romantic drama by Michelangelo Antonioni follows the love life of Vittoria, a beautiful literary translator living in Rome. After splitting from her writer boyfriend, Riccardo, Vittoria meets Piero, a lively stockbroker, on the hectic floor of the Roman stock exchange. Though Vittoria and Piero begin a relationship, it is not one without difficulties, and their commitment to one another is tested during an eclipse.

Dr. Génessier is riddled with guilt after an accident that he caused disfigures the face of his daughter, the once beautiful Christiane, who outsiders believe is dead. Dr. Génessier, along with accomplice and laboratory assistant Louise, kidnaps young women and brings them to the Génessier mansion. After rendering his victims unconscious, Dr. Génessier removes their faces and attempts to graft them on to Christiane's.

On a fishing boat at sea, a 60-year old man has been raising a girl since she was a child. It is agreed that they will get married on her 17th birthday. They live a quiet and secluded life, renting the boat to day fishermen and practicing strange divination rites. Their life changes when a teenage student comes aboard.

Engang var Calvero en stor varietéstjerne, en komiker af guds nåde og førende indenfor sit felt. I dag er han en skygge af sig selv; alkoholiseret og glemt af sit engang så store publikum. Tiden er 1914, stedet er London. Calvero lugter gas fra en nabolejlighed og bryder døren op. Indenfor finder han en ung kvinde, der har forsøgt at begå selvmord. Den unge kvinde, Thereza, viser sig at være en ung ballerina, der har mistet troen på livet. I stedet for at melde det til politiet og dermed udsætte hende for et retsligt efterspil, vælger Calvero at tage sig af Thereza og få hende bragt til hægterne. Samtidig finder også han en ny mening med tilværelsen og den show-business, han for så længe siden havde mistet troen på.

He then removes his head, and throwing it in the air, it appears on the table opposite another head, and both detached heads sing in unison. The conjurer then removes it a third time. You then see all three of his heads, which are exact duplicates, upon the table at one time, while the conjurer again stands before the audience with his head perfectly intact, singing in unison with the three heads upon the table. He closes the picture by bowing himself from the stage.
